Skyscanner is a global travel search company founded in 2003 and now helping over 50 million people each month with their travel options. Now a new integrated mobile app crunches data to provide a variety of options to help users make decisions on the go.

Downloadable now, the free, flexible smartphone app has easy-to-change parameters, so users can personalise searches based on what is most important to them at any particular moment. Covering everything, from flights to hotels and cars in a single search, the app is a true ‘travel all seasons’ solution, says the company.

“We believe it is important to continue to innovate and develop technology as the needs of our customers evolve. We’ve incorporated all of the learnings and user feedback we’ve received to create the ultimate app to serve everyone’s travel needs and save them time and money,” says Balint Orosz, head of app product at Skyscanner.

New features designed to help travellers save money include an easy-to-navigate ‘Explore Top Deals’ section with:

Everywhere: top deals – For those with set travel dates but flexibility on their destination, the ‘Everywhere’ feature pinpoints the top deals from a chosen airport

Explore city breaks: A new feature that enables travellers to find the cheapest options for a last-minute weekend city break

Summer holiday deals: For those on the hunt for sunshine this summer, find all the best options per month from your chosen airport

Timeline view: This view allows travellers that are searching for a specific destination to easily find the best flight options in the near future

The Quick Search section also has a number of new and time-saving features, including:

Hotels and Car Search sync: Hotels and car hire are automatically synchronised with flights searches, so travellers only have to input check-in times, destinations and pick up locations once

Hotels booking view: Quick snapshots of all the key information (images, reviews, price) for hotel results

Instant flight search: Search results are refreshed instantly. As new parameters are set, the search automatically starts in the background, eliminating any waiting time for new results to load

Ratings: To help travellers pick the best flights quickly and easily, search results can be ranked by price, duration or rating, the latter of which considers the price, number of stops and duration. The rating is reflected in a colour-coded smiling/frowning face and a score out of 10
