The UK’s Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has announced its first international office. The WSET Asia Pacific office will be based in Hong Kong and comes “in response to high demand for wine and spirit education across Greater China.”
WSET is the largest global provider of wines and spirits qualifications, with 72,171 candidates during the academic year 2015/16. Following the UK, China has overtaken the US to be the second biggest market for WSET and the largest growth market, with candidate numbers for 2015/16 up 38 per cent on the previous year and course registrations for 2016/17 showing no signs of slowing.
The official opening will be marked with a traditional suckling pig on 10 November 2016 at Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair.
