In an effort to raise awareness on global food insecurity and the carbon footprint created by the food industry, Lan Kwai Fong Group has partnered with the social enterprise organisation, Green Monday, to help promote green, healthy and sustainable living. The collaborating parties believe that it may all begin with something as simple as cutting out meat.

Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group, says “Lan Kwai Fong is renowned for being ahead of style and trend. As people in Hong Kong are getting more aware of healthy living lifestyle, we want to take this forward and bring on the ultimate green movement with innovation and sophistication. Let’s build a Greener LKF together.”

17 restaurants have each created a vegetarian menu and a ‘green’ cocktail that is currently available. The special menus comprise of “unique and creative dishes that allow guests to experience healthy eating in a fun and delicious way.”

Established in response to the  rate at which our planet’s ecosystems are becoming disrupted with marks of our consumption, Green Monday is a platform that enables corporations, restaurants and the general public to reduce carbon footprints and to perform their social and environmental duties. Given that current levels of meat consumption add more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere than even the transportation industry, Green Monday aims to educate on the positive adoption of green practices into lifestyles rather than refraining people from eating meat altogether.
