Decanters have made a comeback with establishments using them to serve large pourings of wine and even to serve spirits so that guests can pour the exact amount they want to drink.
One such offering is from French crystalware design and production house, Lalique. Dubbed as “thoroughly functional but uniquely beautiful”, the 100 Points collection is a collaboration between Lalique and wine critic James Suckling.
The decanters “embrace modern design and exceptional tradition for discerning wine lovers with a desire for great quality and craftsmanship,” according to Daniel Ong, regional director Southeast Asia and Oceania. While the finish is uniquely Lalique, this matte style is gaining popularity with those keen to break away from traditional glossy or clear finishes.
Likewise, Holmegaard’s No.5 Carafe is being relaunched this year. With “a combination of simple lines and thick, mouth-blown glass” the No.5 carafe “exudes the unmistakable aura of elegant retro vibes.” The glassware has “robust, lip-friendly curves and natural gravitas.”
